His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ògúnwùsi was born on October 17, 1974 to the family of Giesi Ruling House, Ojaja Royal Compound of Agbedegbede in the ancient city of Ile-Ife.

Many years before the birth of the Ooni Ògúnwùsi it was predicted that a child of prominence that would impact the lives of mankind would be born into the family at exactly 1pm. Indeed, Oba Adeyeye came into this world at exactly 1pm on a Thursday, the 17th of October, 1974.
With the news of the arrival of a new born prince, he was specifically named Adeyeye by his grandfather Pa. Joseph Olagbaju Adewole Ògúnwùsi Jnr. The name Adeyeye in English translates to ‘A Crown Befitting for a King’; Pa Ògúnwùsi on setting his eyes on the new born prince began to call him Adeyeye Ooni from that very day till he passed away.
The young prince’s late mother also named him Enitan which in English translates to ‘A child of great story’.
Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ògúnwùsi is the 5th direct descendant of the Giesi Ruling Family (Ooni Ojaja Orarigba – Ayikiti ninu Aran reigned form 1878-1880, he was the 44th Ooni of Ile-Ife to rule.
Ooni Ojaja Orarigba begat Adegosan Adewole Ògúnwùsi, who was an extremely powerful prince in Ile-Ife and a war veteran that never lost any battle for Ile-Ife and the Yoruba race. Adegosan Adewole Ògúnwùsi begat Pa Joseph Olagbaju Adewole Ògúnwùsi (Jnr.), a very bold prince who took after his father.
Pa Joseph Olagbaju Adewole Ògúnwùsi (Jnr.) begat Prince John Oluropo Ògúnwùsi, a radio and television anchor and star presenter that spanned the entire mid-1980s to early 21st century in the South-Western part of Nigeria. Prince John Oluropo Ògúnwùsi begat Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.
Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ògúnwùsi is the 51st Ooni of Ife who succeeded the late Ooni Okunade Sijuwade, who died on July 28, 2015.
Ooni Ògúnwùsi has been described as “an astute entrepreneur driven by turning impossibilities to ‘possibilities’”. His reign has been marked by a modern outlook and a number of progressive policies.
Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ògúnwùsi, a qualified accountant, attended Sobuola Memorial Nursery and primary school, Ibadan and completed his primary school education at Ibadan District Council (IDC), Akobo, Ibadan.
He then attended the prestigious Loyola College, Ibadan in 1985 and 1991, led by Reverend G.B Daramola, the principal of the college. He later proceeded to Ile Ife at Saint Peter’s Secondary School, Omi Okun, Ile Ife led by Late Johnson Adebisi.
He holds a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy from the Polytechnic Ibadan, where he started cutting his teeth in outstanding entrepreneurship, even as a student.
To mention a few, the royal prince of Ile-Ife (the source) is a member of some dignified professional bodies namely; Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), an Associate Accounting Technician and a certified member of the Institute of Directors (IOD) Nigeria. He is also an active member of the Global Real Estate Institute (GRI) having participated at various levels.
In 2002, he led the Federal Government of Nigeria delegation to Canada that enhanced alliances through a partnership with the government of Ondo State on solid mineral.
On October 26, 2015, Ooni Adéyẹyè was selected as the king-elect out of 21 contenders to the Ọọ̀ni stool in an announcement by the Governor of Ọ̀ṣun State, Ọ̀gbẹ́ni Rauf Arẹ́gbẹ́ṣọlá.
As a prince from the Giesi Family whose turn it was to produce a king, he beat out a number of competitors including his elder brother.
Ooni Ogunwusi received his Staff of Office from Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola on Monday 7 December 2015 at Enuwa Square, Ile-Ife in the presence of several dignitaries from all walks of life, including the Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo. At the coronation, the Ooni promised to unite the Yorùbás under a peaceful and prosperous reign.
Since his coronation, the foremost African king has made news for a number of notable actions and pronouncements including the promise not to re-litigate supremacy battles with other Yorùbá kings.
On January 17, 2016, Ọọ̀ni Ògúnwùsi broke a 79-year-old antagonism between the thrones of Ifẹ and Ọ̀yọ́ by visiting the Aláàfin, the first of such visits in eight decades by an Ifẹ monarch. He has instituted a number of progressive causes in Ilé-Ifẹ̀, including a cocoa farm meant to feed thousands of widows in the state.
The Arole Oduduwa has consistently called for national peace, unity and tranquility which he said are the pillars to strengthen Nigeria’s quest for socio-economic development.
Ile-Ife, the ancestral home of Yoruba descendants, has been tremendously transformed into a world heritage city since the coronation of Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi. One of his many projects involves the transformation of the ancient city into “the biggest tourist destination in Africa”.
Some of the completed projects which include re-construction and beautification of ancient sites, greenery of the city centers, redesign of the city main boulevard, outskirts and other legacy projects in line with the idea to create the necessary impetus for Ile-Ife and Yoruba cultural renaissance are creating immense wealth and job creation for the people of Ile Ife and entire country in general.
An advocate of youth emancipation, Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi has times without number reiterated his commitment to the empowerment of youths describing them as the mirror of the nation.
Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja has partnered many notable organisations which include Bank Of Industry, Federal Institute of Industrial Research Oshodi, (FIIRO) and many other international development oriented institutions to meaningfully engage and provide gainful employment for youths in Ife, Osun and the country at large.
Among the features of the MoU initiated and facilitated by Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi with the Bank Of Industry is the provision of ₦1 billion loans at an interest rate of 7.5 per cent to the youths.
On June 12, 2016, Ọọni was presented with the key of the City of Sumerset, Franklin Township in New Jersey and honoured with the proclamation of the town of Franklin.
Ọọ̀ni Ògúnwùsì hails from Giesi Royal Family, one of the four royal families in Ilé-Ifẹ̀, Osun State, Nigeria. The last Ọọ̀ni from the family was Ọọ̀ni Dérin Ọlọ́gbẹ́nlá (1880-1894). Ọoni Ògúnwùsì assumed the title of Òjájá (II).
Ojaja (I) was from Agbedegbede Compound, Irẹmọ Quarters (the ancestral home of the Giesi). His father is Prince Rọ́pò Ògúnwùsì, a veteran broadcaster. He is the third son in a family of six. He has three sisters.
He has a daughter, Adéọlá Àánúolúwapọ̀ Ògúnwùsì, born in Ibadan, in May 1994, to Omolara Olatubosun with whom he has been a co-parent.
He was married from 2008 to 2016 to Adebukunola Bombata.
He was married to Zaynab Otiti Obanor from March 2016 to August 2017. During this time, she went by the name Olori Wuraola Ogunwusi.
In a statement released on August 30, 2017, Obanor said she and the Ooni were “no more”. The marriage was reportedly arranged by the Oracle and the wedding took place in Benin City while the reception held in Ile-Ife.
Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi is set to launch his PET Project, Hopes Alive Initiatives, HAI.
He said recently concerning the project, “It is the wish of every dreamer to have his or her dream become a reality. l marvel at the trend of the immeasurable success so far recorded by my PET project; Hopes Alive Initiatives(HAI) within a very short period of time because I have an innate passion in me to give hope to the hopeless and turn the story of the under privileged positively. This is what the Hopes Alive Initiatives(HAI) is currently achieving under the administrative leadership of Temitope Adesegun”
